Welcome to the blog of Robert Hiraeth!
This site is where you will find the works of award-winning writer Robert and friends. To those new to him and his scribblings, here is a quick rundown of what you’ll find:
Short stories, poetry, media reviews, philosophical explorations, comedy vignettes, close reading analysis, songs, political commentary, experimental formats, teleplays, and anything else that may come along during these late night liaisons between him and his rubber rollup keyboard.
Everything you will read here is 100% original content and constructed while under the watchful eye of the facility where he is incarcerated. It is uploaded sporadically by his lovely agent, Emily, of Singing Dark literary agency, without whom nothing here would be possible.
What you’ll find here:
In addition to the content presented above, you will occasionally read pieces written by passersby, friends, critics, and regular contributors. Robert writes in a wide range of genres, everything from quasi-biographical Gonzonian mash-ups to horror and dystopian parables. Robert’s writing will take you through a world of ideas unique and authentic. A voice all his own amplified by the acoustics of cinderblock and strained through a sieve of strange geometry only to finally resolve itself into words.*
What you will NOT find here:
Bad poetry or bigoted boorishness of any stripe. (bad bigoted poetry is ESPECIALLY egregious, and will be forwarded to the author’s parents, who will NOT be happy to hear of such shoddy behavior!)
Where to begin:
Browse the recent posts below, or search by category, date, or theme. Feel free to comment and add writing if you choose. All works will be credited to the contributor, and any other information will be included if requested.
The name “Hiraeth”:
If you’re curious about the name choice, visit the Hiraeth page to learn about this beautiful Welsh concept that influences much of the work here.
*This line is lovingly pinched from Mr. Norman Mailer and mangled to fit my purposes. ❤
