Robert Hiraeth is the 2024 PEN America award winning author of the short piece Courage, which can be found in the 2024 PEN America prison writers anthology. He has also been published in short essay form in the Sun magazine, as well as had poetry featured in the PEN America 2025 prison poetry zine. He is a voracious reader, film fanatic, and is interested in almost everything. He lives in Washington state, USA, plays guitar, is attending classes at the local Whitman college through a cooperative inside / outside program, dabbles in art, and dances alone, passionately, and not particularly well. Some of his favorite writers include Ursula K. LeGuin, John Irving, Kurt Vonnegut, Edith Wharton, Robert Louis Stevenson, and John Steinbeck. This is his first blog.
