Hello all, this is Emily’s response to the prompt:
“Imagine your life as a work of fiction. Describe the antagonist, and how you would prevail against them.”
Some days it feels like I am a passenger in a story I did not create. One day I want to wake up and everything is as it should be, instead of in this suspended stasis. I am the antagonist in my own story, in a 100-year war where both sides are equally matched. The protagonist and antagonist: two sides of a single coin, each day flipped and the outcome decided at random. Should one prevail, the world and outlook is sunny and future-focused; the other side, a day full of regrets and stormy skies. I do not know how to win a single battle, let alone a war. I succumb, I fail. I wish I could do more, be more, be something more than this.
